39:1
（大衛的詩，交與伶長耶杜頓。）我曾說：我要謹慎我的言行免得我舌頭犯罪；惡人在我面前的時候，我要用嚼環勒住我的口。 [NASB] I said, "I will guard my ways That I may not sin with my tongue; I will guard my mouth as with a muzzle While the wicked are in my presence."
39:2
我默然無聲，連好話也不出口；我的愁苦就發動了， [NASB] I was mute and silent, I refrained {even} from good, And my sorrow grew worse.
39:3
我的心在我裏面發熱。我默想的時候，火就燒起，我便用舌頭說話。 [NASB] My heart was hot within me, While I was musing the fire burned; {Then} I spoke with my tongue:

耶和華啊，求你叫我曉得我身之終！我的壽數幾何？叫我知道我的生命不長！ [NASB] "LORD, make me to know my end And what is the extent of my days; Let me know how transient I am.
39:5
你使我的年日窄如手掌；我一生的年數，在你面前如同無有。各人最穩妥的時候，真是全然虛幻。（細拉） [NASB] "Behold, You have made my days {as} handbreadths, And my lifetime as nothing in Your sight; Surely every man at his best is a mere breath. Selah.
39:6
世人行動實係幻影。他們忙亂，真是枉然；積蓄財寶，不知將來有誰收取。 [NASB] "Surely every man walks about as a phantom; Surely they make an uproar for nothing; He amasses {riches} and does not know who will gather them.

求你把你的責罰從我身上免去；因你手的責打，我便消滅。 [NASB] "Remove Your plague from me; Because of the opposition of Your hand I am perishing.

你因人的罪惡懲罰他的時候，叫他的笑容（的笑容：或作所喜愛的）消滅，如衣被蟲所咬。世人真是虛幻！（細拉） [NASB] "With reproofs You chasten a man for iniquity; You consume as a moth what is precious to him; Surely every man is a mere breath. Selah.

耶和華啊，求你聽我的禱告，留心聽我的呼求！我流淚，求你不要靜默無聲！因為我在你面前是客旅，是寄居的，像我列祖一般。 [NASB] "Hear my prayer, O LORD, and give ear to my cry; Do not be silent at my tears; For I am a stranger with You, A sojourner like all my fathers.
