Beginning May 1, Yunnan travel agencies will provide a new tour package of visiting China, Thailand, Myanmar and Laos in a single trip. Tourists can embark on journey from Guanlei Port in Xishuangbanna Dai Autonomous Prefecture, and experience the beauty and mystery of the Golden Triangle.

The four-country trip product was introduced at the news conference of "Lancang-Mekong Waterway plus Kunming-Bangkok Highway-Golden Triangle International Tourism Products". The first batch of tourists will start their journey soon in Xishuangbanna on May 1.

The tour starts at Guanlei port by cruise and arrives in Thailand's Chiang Saen. Then it takes tourists on a land tour to Myanmar's Tachilek, Lao cities Ban Houayxay and Boten and back to China through Mohan landport in Xishuangbanna.Tourists can also travel to Chiang Saen by car/bus and return to China by waterway to experience the beauty and mystery of four countries at one time.

In recent years, self-drive tours along the Kunming-Bangkok highway are continuously booming. The number of self-drive tourists from Yunnan to Thailand along the international road is nearly 50,000. The Lancang-Mekong River is a golden waterway for tourists entering Southeast Asia from Yunnan and connecting the six countries of China, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand, Cambodia and Vietnam. The river has a reputation as "the Oriental Danube". Now channel level-upgrading construction has begun and will soon be available for use by 600 passenger catamarans.
