The “Dayang No. 1”ship returned to Qingdao after completing the comprehensive sea trial task

On May 3rd, after taking the latest “Hailong No.3”, “Hailong 11000” unmanned cabled submersible and “Qianlong No. 3” unmanned cable-less submersible to dive into the West Pacific and South China Sea for 12 times, the “Dayang No. 1”scientific research ship berthed in the wharf of Qingdao State Oceanic Administration Beihai Branch scientific research base, completed successfully the comprehensive sea trial scientific investigation task lasting for 45 days and totally travelled 6,208 sea miles.
During the voyages, the 4,500m unmanned cabled submersible “Hailong No. 3”and unmanned cable-less submersible “Qianlong No. 3”both went through sea trial. It is also the first that the unmanned cable-less submersible and ship-borne geological sampling device worked at the same time in China.
This is the first time that China adopted the mode of simultaneously working of the unmanned cable-less submersible and ship-borne geological sampling device. It can save shipping time and improve comprehensive voyage efficiency. It is a great recognition of Chinese submersible research and development technology and also creates a new combined operation mode for comprehensive investigations. (Wang Ping)
