On Jan 10, Chengdu police launched an emergency call function on their official WeChat account, allowing people who can't make a phone call or are not aware of their location to call the police.

By following the Chengdu police official WeChat account "平安成都" (Ping'an Chengdu), citizens can call the police in just one click, while the platform will automatically find their location.

In addition, people can upload audio, videos and images of a crime scene to provide evidence for further police investigation. The WeChat platform provides 24-hour online interactive reception, verification and feedback services.

Users need to register with their real name, ID number, phone number and face to use the emergency platform. According to Chengdu police, the WeChat platform requires real-name registration, and activities such as false police reports are a waste of public resources and against the law.

In addition to the WeChat platform, people can also call the police at 110, or text them at 12110.
