This year marks the 10th anniversary of the sister-city relationship between Chengdu and Bonn.

Chengdu and Germany's Bonn will co-hold the 2019 Chengdu Beethoven Culture Week in July, to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the sister-city relationship between the two cities.

One of the most important activities during the Week will be the qualifying contest in China for the International Telekom Beethoven Competition Bonn (ITBCB). The winner in the youth group will be qualified for the ITBCB, which will be held in December in Bonn.

"The Week will become a major part of a series of events commemorating the 250th birthday anniversary of Beethoven," said Mr. Ashok-Alexander Sridharan, mayor of Bonn. According to him, his city will send a delegation led by its deputy mayor to Chengdu to attend the Week.

Since the establishment of the sister-city relationship in 2009, Chengdu and Bonn have achieved great results in the mutual cooperation involving environmental protection and education. The two sides hope to expand their partnership and exchanges into more fields in the following decade.
