The Third High-Level International Forum on Sustainable Urban Development was open in Chengdu on July.

Guided by the National Development and Reform Commission, the People's Republic of China, and jointly organized by the China Center for Urban Development, United Nations Human Settlements Programme and Chengdu Municipal Government, the Third High-Level International Forum on Sustainable Urban Development was open in Chengdu on July 15 and will last till July 17.

Themed "Dialogue with the World for Green Development", the three-day event gathered policy makers, city managers, well-known experts, and entrepreneurs from China and other countries to probe into a variety of topics involving development of metropolitan areas, urban-rural integration, park city, children-friendly city, green development and resilient city, in hopes of seeking sustainable development of the whole world.

At the Forum, the United Nations Human Settlements Programme and China Center for Urban Development will release the Guiding Principles for Chengdu's Sustainable Development and announce the second batch of international pilot communities for sustainable development.

Having done a lot in exploring paths toward sustainable development, Mingyue Village at Chengdu's Pujiang County and Shuangjing Neighborhood in Beijing's Chaoyang District will be the pilot communities for sustainable development. Though one is located in a bustling CBD in China's capital, and another in the countryside in southwest China, the two places deserve worldwide attention thanks to their effective practices and useful experience, said insiders involved in the project.
