Up to now, Chengdu has established a sister-city tie with 36 cities and a friendly and cooperative relationship with 64 cities across the globe.

On July 15 (Italy time), Chengdu signed an MoU with Bologna, Italy, on the establishment of a friendly and cooperative relationship between the two cities.

Bologna is the capital of the Emilia-Romagna region in northern Italy, and one of the most ancient cities in the country. With a favorable geographical location, it is a major transportation hub as well as an important business and trade center in Italy and Europe.

Chengdu, noted for its gastronomic culture, and Bologna, widely acclaimed for its music sector, are both members of the UNESCO Creative Cities Network. In April, Ms. Marilena Pillati, Deputy Mayor of Bologna, came to Chengdu to attend the 8th Music Cities Convention, the largest and most extensive global gathering on the topic of Music Cities. During her visit, the two cities agreed to establish a sister-theatre relationship between Teatro Comunale di Bologna (Bologna municipal theater) and Chengdu City Music Hall, and cooperate in the music sector in the future.

On the same day, just before signing the MoU with Bologna, Chengdu also established a friendly and cooperative relationship with Austin, the US. The two cities will further their collaboration and exchanges in innovation and entrepreneurship.
