The World University Student Fashion Design Competition concluded on Nov. 9, 2019 in Qingdao Fashion Industrial Park. 20 expert judges, a group of representatives from 25 international fashion colleges and more than 200 people from fashion enterprises, authoritative organizations and relevant government departments participated in the competition.

After several rounds of competition, Wang Yuqi from Royal College of Art won the first prize of “Gold Conch” Award, Lea Kasper from University of Applied Sciences Trier and Zhang Yuchuan from Donghua University the second prize, and He Yichen from Xi’an Polytechnic University Chiara De Nigris from Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti di MILANO and Sicelo Justice Maphumulo from Durban University of Technology the third prize. The winners of the four individual awards -- Creativity Award, Market Potential Award, Sustainable Design Award and Best Choice Award -- are respectively Tanisha Singh from Pearl Academy of Fashion Management, Hanchi Mriyama from Institut Supérieur des Arts et du Luxe, Celine Zara Constantinides from the University of Huddersfield and Hazar Mustafa Jabareen from Bezalel Academy of Art and Design.

Wang Dusen, design director of Ellassay Faision Co. Ltd, also the jury of competition, gave his speech at the award ceremony. He said that the competition brought him three surprises. The first surprise is that Qingdao’s fashion circle of friends is such big as 25 universities from 14 countries and regions participated in the competition. The second one is that the entries from the 25 universities are very creative, which impressed him a lot. The third one is that Shinan District has so strong fashion atmosphere. After several-day communication with the enterprises and colleges, he gained a lot.

BIFT Fashion Industrial Park signed agreements with Bezalel Academy of Art and Design, Durban University of Technology and Institut Supérieur des Arts et du Luxe respectively to set up international educational practice base in Qingdao, so as to provide transnational teaching and training service for students and enterprise personnel, and further develop in-depth, all-around and multi-field cooperation.

The World University Student Fashion Design Competition was held from Nov. 7 to 9, 2019. The competition will help to further stimulate the innovation of the global fashion industry and construction Qingdao into an international fashion city.
