Jiangcheng County of southwest China's Yunnan Province has continually set up various supporting industries after achieving the goal of poverty alleviation, to consolidate the achievements.

The county is one of the counties receiving major national help for poverty alleviation and one of the 27 deeply poverty-stricken counties in Yunnan Province. All 42 poor villages in the county got rid of poverty in May this year.

A group of villagers in Zhengdong Town have planted nut trees which grow vigorously on vast mountains now. On of them, Deng Yongming, interplanted 19 mu (about 1.27 hectares) of passion fruit in the nut forest, which will be ripe next month and ready for the market.

However, the sales problem is worrying Deng.

"The passion fruit isn't ripe, so the boss can't see it, nor can he taste it. He dares not to order it because he doesn't know whether the fruit is sour or sweet," said Deng.

In fact, after on-the-spot investigation by the agricultural department and related experts, passion fruit is found as the most suitable variety introduced based on local specific conditions. Local government soon contacted e-commerce platform, and staff arrived at the village to build new platform for selling passion fruit.

A deep processing enterprise, which has long-term cooperation with local government, signed a purchase agreement with farmers at a reserve price of 2.8 yuan (around 0.4 U.S. dollars) per kilogram.

Besides, through corresponding subsidy policy for logistics companies, the enterprise will sell the passion fruits at a price of three yuan (around 0.43 U.S. dollars) per kilogram on online e-commerce platform.

Meanwhile, it also offers subsidy of 600 yuan per mu to farmers who raise the passion fruit.

Jiangcheng County has set up various supporting industries to consolidate the effect of poverty alleviation and is gradually realizing the transition from "blood-transfusion" poverty alleviation to "blood-making" function for poverty alleviation.
