Kitefruits in Xishuangbanna Tropical Botanic Garden in Yunnan Province have been blooming recently.

These plants are unique to tropical and subtropical areas of Asia. Of the 30 species of the kitefruit genus, 12 can be found in China.

Years of evolution have equipped the plants with special pollination characteristics such as mirror-image flowers and heteranthery, in which a single flower has different types of stamens, to attract more insects.
