30 years ago, macadamia was first planted in southwest Yunnan’s Lincang city. Today, 170 thousand households benefit from the planting of macadamia in the city.

This year, the 8th International Macadamia Symposium will be held in Lincang. It is the first time that the event organizer has chosen China as the host country.  The symposium is believed to be significant for the development of Lincang macadamia planting and brands promotion.

According to a news briefing, Lincang has been taking concrete efforts to improve the quality of raw products of macadamia nuts and some of the Lincang-made products have received international organic certifications. It is estimated that the volume of macadamia in Lincang will exceed 100 thousand tons by 2020.
