NPC deputy from Yunnan shares stories about poverty alleviation of Dulong people

By the end of last year, the Dulong people, as a whole, have been lifted out of poverty!" said Ma Zhengshan, a deputy to the 13th National People's Congress (NPC) and Director of the Standing Committee of People’s Congress of northwest Yunnan’s Gongshan Dulong and Nu Autonomous County On March 8.

Dulong people are one of the directly-entering-socialism ethnic groups with a small population in Yunnan Province. Ma told the stories about poverty alleviation of Dulong people, during a NPC deputy passage interview in Beijing.


Ma Zhengshan said that by the end of 2018, the poverty headcount ratio of Dulong people has dropped to 2.63%. All 1,086 households in Dulongjiang Township have moved into newly-built houses and all natural villages have been connected with hardened roads, with 4G networks. And radio and television signals are accessible in all villages of the township.


Dulong villagers' income has increased by planting amomum tsao-ko, raising bees and cattle. Children now enjoy free education, and people have access to medical services. "Dulong people wouldn’t have such a blissful life without the support of the CPC, and we will follow the Party forever," said Ma passionately.

"I wish our country achieving greater prosperity, and our people having better life,” said Ma in Dulong language.
