Pictures taken on January 19 show the festive scenes in southwest Yunnan’s Tengchong ahead of the traditional Chinese lunar new year, or Spring Festival. 

As the festival approaches, streets in Tengchong are decorated by red lanterns, Chinese knots and others, with consumer goods on sale for locals. The couplets, paper-cuttings and sweets are popular among buyers.
