Yunnan Technology and Business University recently released a series of images of "the 18 oddities in Yunnan", attracting the attention and affection of viewers.

Inspired by the special ethnic culture in Southwest China's Yunnan province, these images were designed by He Qian, a sophomore at the university's School of Art and Design, to show 18 unique cultural phenomena and customs in the province, including "eggs sold in bundles", "three mosquitoes make up a dish" (an exaggerated way of saying mosquitoes in Yunnan are big) and "straw hats used as pot covers".

I've been interested in ethnic culture in Yunnan since my childhood, and have been thinking about how to make traditional ethnic culture attractive to young people born after 1995 or even in the 2000s," she said.

She tried many times and finally decided to combine the unique culture in Yunnan with cartoon-like images, which are very popular and well-received among young people.

After a year's efforts and several revisions, He eventually finished her version of the 18 oddities in Yunnan and made it into a series of souvenirs.

Winning first prize in this year's Yunnan vocational skill contest and obtaining six patents for her works, He said she hopes that her art will help boost young people's love for and attention to ethnic culture.
