Railways and hotels in southwest China's Yunnan Province report phenomenal rise in bookings driven by the upcoming National Day holiday.

Train tickets for Oct. 1 from Yunnan's Kunming City to many other cities in the country are almost sold out, according to China's official online railway ticket-booking platform 12306.

Trains from Kunming to Yunnan's Dali City and Lijiang City, among other popular destinations, in the province have seen basically no tickets left. While tickets for trains from Kunming to Chengdu City in southwest China's Sichuan Province and Chongqing Municipality are also running out fast.

In Yunnan's Dali City, room fees of the most popular hotels range from 700 to 1,000 yuan (about 100 to 150 U.S. dollars) per night during the National Day holiday, with some even up to 3,000 yuan (about 440 U.S. dollars).

For tourists from Yunnan, Chengdu (the capital city of southwest China's Sichuan Province) is one of the most popular destinations outside home. Standard room fees of a hotel in downtown Chengdu is above 700 yuan (about 100 U.S. dollars) per night during the National Day holiday, which are still rising as the holiday approaches.

Under the impact of the COVID-19 epidemic, airlines and hotels in China have offered price cuts. Scenic spots across the country have also offered free or discounted admission fees. Given the sales promotion, travel during this upcoming golden week can be a decent bargain for tourists around the country.
