The Kunming Changshui International Airport in Kunming City, southwest China's Yunnan Province, strictly implemented epidemic prevention measures and contributed effectively to containing the spread of COVID-19 in the area.

As soon as Yunnan provincial government launched the first-level emergency response on January 24 to control the spread of the virus, the airport authorities immediately implemented epidemic prevention measures including disinfecting facilities and setting up a quarantine area which was the first quarantine area among Chinese airports.

When given the task to transport medical teams from Yunnan Province to Wuhan, once China's epicenter of COVID-19, Myanmar and Laos, all departments of the airport spared no effects to finish the task safely and efficiently.

As of June 30, the airport had sent 27 flights which carried medical teams to aid Hubei and foreign countries, with 2,851 passengers and 78 tons of anti-epidemic materials aboard.

"We knew that the situation in Wuhan was urgent, so we all worked together in concerted efforts. I think the achievement is made with the power of us all, that is, the joint efforts of every department and worker in our airport," said Wang Jing, staff of the Administrative Department of Kunming Changshui International Airport.

As of June 30, the airport had served more than 9.02 million passengers and all of their body temperatures were measured in time, successfully achieving "zero mistakes in epidemic prevention".

"All of the 28 airport-stationed units worked together in coordination with one mind and a strong command system for joint operations. All staff members took the initiative to carry out their duties conscientiously," said Huang Jian, president of the Kunming Changshui International Airport.
