An advanced mobile laboratory contributed to the mass COVID-19 testing program that concluded last Saturday in Ruili City of southwest China's Yunnan Province.

A total of 287,254 samples were collected and tested negative during the mass nucleic acid testing in the border city. Over 9,000 samples were tested for coronavirus by the mobile laboratory of Yunnan Institute for Endemic Disease Control and Prevention.

The mobile laboratory at Biosafety Level 2 plus (BSL2+) can detect various pathogenic microorganism, an effective addition to the traditional testing approaches with its flexibility and rapid reaction.

According to officials of the Institute, in addition to the mobile BSL2 + laboratory, there was also a pathogenic microorganism testing vehicle of the Yunnan Center for Disease Control dispatched to Ruili. The equipment ran all the time with medical staff on duty in turn to complete the nucleic acid testing.

During the mass testing in Ruili, the Yunnan Institute for Endemic Disease Prevention and Control also undertook the work of receiving, transferring and delivering samples for nucleic acid tests. To ensure the orderly process of the work, staff members had established a strict and standardized account to record detailed information of each collected sample.

More than 200,000 samples were sent as quickly as possible to 15 testing institutions in the province by helicopters and special vehicles.

With the joint efforts of various institutions and medical workers, the city of Ruili completed the mass COVID-19 testing within three days.
