World Toilet Day: Yunnan's toilets are getting smarter
11/21/2020

November 19 is the World Toilet Day. The toilet is an important indicator of civilization. Since 2015, China has carried out a nationwide "toilet revolution" to upgrade urban and rural toilets and tourist toilets.
The construction of smart tourist toilets is a highlight of the "toilet revolution" in Southwest China's Yunnan Province. Tourists can locate and navigate to the nearest smart toilet via their mobile phones, as well as learn about the occupancy, temperature, humidity and air quality of the toilet. In addition, these toilets are equipped with intelligent paper extractors, dryers, hand sanitizer, faucets and other facilities. There are special rooms for the disabled, mothers and children as well.
From July 2018 to the end of September 2019, Yunnan built and renovated 507,116 toilets.
