A courtship show by two great crested grebes was recently spotted at the Qinghuahai wetland park in southwest Yunnan’s Baoshan City. Having imitated each other in gestures and cleaning their own feathers, their pair failed to deliver a success mating in the end.

Because of its economic and scientific values, the great crested grebe is a protected water fowl in China. Now the wetland park houses 50 crested grebes, some of which have kicked off their flight to the north for breeding.
