Baotou, also known as Bugthot, is the largest industrial city in the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region of the China. The city's Mongolian name means"place with deer". Baotou, lies in the north of North China, the middle of Inner Mongolia, is the hinterland of Bohai-Rim Economic Circle and thetri-angular Hohhot-Baotou-Ordos area. It is abundant in rare earth, reputed now as the 'steel capital on grassland' and the 'capital of rare earth'. In recent years, Baotou has been successively won several prizes in domestic and abroad, such as UN Habitat Scroll of Honor Award and Excellent-tour city of China, National Civilized City, and Garden City, which witnesses the development of Baotou and broadens its recognition in China and overseas.
