“Returning Hearts Celebration” Reuniting Inmates and Their Children
4/27/2017

Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, Inmate Services Bureau’s (ISB) Religious and Volunteer Services Unit and Grace Baptist Church, Santa Clarita will be hosting the 10th Annual “Returning Hearts Celebration,” reuniting inmates and their children for a one day event at the Pitchess Detention Center, East Facility Fire Camp.

Male inmates will be participating in “The Returning Hearts Celebration” event on Friday, April 28, 2017. The “Returning Hearts Program” is an integral part of a parenting program sponsored by the Religious and Volunteer Services Unit that teaches inmates how to become better fathers by promoting personal growth, accountability, and decision making. This event is an excellent way for incarcerated fathers to reconnect and bond with their children; and to work on their relationships which places them on a path towards family reconciliation.

The Returning Hearts Event will be hosted by Santa Clarita’s Grace Baptist Church who will be providing volunteers, food, and fun activities for the 22 inmates and 35 children that will participate in this event.

Inmate Services Bureau is responsible for managing 67 inmate educational and vocational programs within seven Los Angeles County jails.  There are approximately 16,800 inmates in the Los Angeles County jail system.  Within that population more than 7,000 inmates are currently participating in educational programs.
