For many years, badminton shuttlecock have been made with high-quality goose feathers. But now, with the bird flu going on, there is a shortage of goose feathers. Many shuttlecocks will be made with bad goose feathers or duck feathers. All that is known is they will fall apart a lot more frequently.

If the shortage continues, shuttlecock prices may become two or three times higher. But only badminton fanatics will but premium shuttlecocks, premium meaning real goose feathers instead of duck or low-quality goose feathers. Right now, shuttlecocks are falling apart regularly. Badminton players suspect that the makers are using inferior feathers to create shuttlecock. These need to be made well though, because they have to withstand being hit and flying up to 150 mph.

The bird flu is affecting the world, and now it’s affecting Badminton. This needs to be stopped.
