The Chengdu International Sister Cities Exhibition Hall is located in downtown Chengdu. There are around 100 exotic exhibits on show there. Some are of great historic significance, some have a modern flavor, some light and smart and some are deeply profound.

These exhibits drawn from over 10 cities from around the globe and all are gifts of Sister Cities. They showcase Chengdu’s international “friends circle” to the rest of the world.

Ranging from Europe to Asia, then onto America, Oceania and Africa, and developing since 1981, Chengdu has forged international formal Sister City relationship with 34 cities and in addition, set up friendly and cooperative links with a further 55 cities all around the globe.

These “good friends” are not only the fruit of Chengdu’s opening up over recent decades, because they will contribute in a major way to Chengdu’s continuing going global campaign in the future.

Exchanges and collaboration offer an example for Sister Cities full economic and trade exchanges

Chengdu conducts frequent exchange frequent visits with these “good friends.” Education, one of strongest sectors of Chengdu, is the key element for Sister Cities exchanges and collaboration.

Since the launch of “China Chengdu—U.S. Phoenix Youth Ambassador Program” in 1997, some 200 middle school students from Chengdu and Phoenix have participated in exchange visits through the 21-year-time span. These provided the opportunity to gain an insight into, and experience, each city. Besides the program with Phoenix, various other education exchange collaboration programs have been set up between Chengdu and its Sister Cities- there are the further examples of Perth (Australia) ,Montpellier (France), Horsens (Denmark) and Hamilton (New Zealand).
