Qingdao to plant or renew 394,000 acres of forests next 3 years

Opinions on Carrying Out “Green Everywhere in Qingdao” Land Greening Movement Activity, an important strategic action in boosting the construction of beautiful Qingdao, was issued by the Qingdao Municipal Government during the Chinese New Year period. Aiming to call up social forces to plant trees to increase forest resource, increase forest quality and ensure eco security, the Opinions will help to plant trees, renew forest, or upgrade low efficient forest as many as 394,000 acres by 2020.

According to the Opinions, the overall goal of the action is to boost land greening, increase forest quality, conduct forest city construction, build forest park, and establish forest eco security system with reasonable layout, excellent structure, full function and supreme benefits. During the construction period, the city will advance greening and beautifying of the mountainous areas, plains, water system, roads, rural and urban areas as a whole, and take greening of suitable barren hills, wasteland and desolate sands.

Implementing 7 Major Tasks is the key assignment of the action, which are building green eco protective screen in Northern Qingdao, retreating farmland for fruit-bearing forest or forest, implementing eco recovery and protection project, implementing farmland protective forest construction project, building forest eco corridor, implementing forest quality increase project and greening & beautifying project in urban and rural areas.
