QINGDAO, April 22 (Xinhua) -- The People's Liberation Army (PLA) Navy will demonstrate its firm resolve to safeguard world peace as it marks the 70th anniversary with multinational naval events, a Chinese military expert said.

Yin Zhuo, head of the information technology commission of the PLA Navy, made the remarks ahead of a four-day celebration which started Monday in eastern China's port city of Qingdao.

Naval delegations from more than 60 countries and nearly 20 vessels from over 10 countries will join the events, which include a grand naval parade, high-level seminars and cultural and sports exchanges.

"A maritime parade is a form of military diplomacy," said Yin. "The PLA Navy will showcase the idea of peace to international delegates and the world."

Organizing multinational naval events is an established practice for the PLA Navy, he added, noting that the events can boost exchanges and cooperation between Chinese and foreign navies, who will work together to safeguard maritime security and stability.

April 23 marks the 70th founding anniversary of the PLA Navy.
