Badaguan Scenic Area formerly had eight avenues that were named after eight famous passes in China, hence the name Badaguan, which means eight passes. Two more avenues have been added since then but its name remains the same. Badaguan is a famous sanitarium that is also popular for its wide variety of flowers (all blooming in different seasons) and its buildings which reflect the architecture from more than twenty countries, including Germany, Russia, Britain, France, Spain, Switzerland, Japan and others. Qingdao rehabilitated the entire area, symbolizing Badaguan’s significance as one of the most important sanitariums in China.
