Qingdao Oriental Eden breaks ground in Qingdao High-tech Zone

The cornerstone laying ceremony of Qingdao Oriental Eden project was held in Qingdao High-tech Zone on May 21, further upgrading the regional tourism format of Qingdao. Geng Tao, vice mayor of Qingdao, and Li Hongyan, director of the management committee and deputy director of the working committee of Qingdao High-tech Zone attended and delivered at the ceremony.

With a planned construction area of 62,254 square meters, Qingdao Oriental Eden will double the area of the Eden in the UK after completion and receive more than one million tourists annually. The project, as the only large-scale ecological park in northern China integrating ecological and environmental protection, marine civilization, culture and entertainment, scientific research and education, and forum, is expected to be completed by the end of 2022 and officially open to public in the first half of 2023.

In his speech, Geng Tao extended his warm congratulations on the groundbreaking of the project. He noted that Qingdao, as a famous coastal tourist destination, boasts rich natural and humanistic tourist resources. The construction of the Oriental Eden will further promote the new leap in the seasonal pattern of Qingdao's tourism and upgrade the city's tourism industry.

Li Hongyan said in his speech that the project had attracted much attention from all walks of life since the signing. Centering on the construction of the project, Qingdao High-tech Zone will do their best to coordinate, push forward, and step up efforts to create a better governmental service environment to guard the construction of the project. Under the premise of epidemic prevention and safe production, he hoped the project to give full play to its advantages, speed up the construction progress and the gathering of visitors and businesses so as to build a unique landscape of Qingdao.
