The National Family Sailing Race completed the second event of the season in Qingdao, Shandong Province, on Sunday, with the Leng Mingxiang family winning the Hobie T2 discipline and the Leng Weihao family sailing away with the Hobie Getaway discipline trophy.

Leng Mingxiang, a sailing enthusiast based in Qingdao's neighboring city Rizhao who had to train in Qingdao over the past few months due to COVID-19, said the win will help increase his child's confidence for participating in the sport. 

Leng Weihao, a primary school student, said the competition has made him realize that in order to truly handle situations he will need to practice in reality what he has learned in textbooks. 

The two-day race witnessed strong winds, which created some challenges for participants like Leng Weihao, who said he was used to practicing on still waters.

The next race of the family sailing race will be held from Friday to Sunday in Ningbo, East China's Zhejiang Province.
