The 17th World Police and Fire Games (WFPG) took place August 7-16, 2017 (local time) in Los Angeles.
As the ambassador of friendship from Chengdu, a costumed giant panda showed up at the athlete registration center for the event, and became popular with athletes of different countries. With the help of the VR technology, the "panda" invited police and firefighters from across the world to attend the 18th WPFG to be held in Chengdu in 2019.
The 17th WPFG included 65 competitive programs. The Chinese delegation consisted of the representatives from the country's public security departments at different levels and 2019 WFPG Chengdu organizing committee.
As the host city of the 2019 WFPG, Chengdu sent a separate group of 101 members to participate in the event.
