The Sichuan Services Aero-engine Maintenance Co., Ltd. (SSAMC), located in the Chengdu Shuangliu Comprehensive Bonded Zone, welcomed on a recent day a special “guest” - the LEAP engine, the first one of its kind to be repaired in China.

The engine, developed by the CFM International, a joint venture company between the General Electric (the US) and Safran Aircraft Engines (France), has become an option for the engines on Airbus A320 aircraft, and the sole one for the power plants on Boeing 737 MAX aircraft.

As the one and only company in China authorized by the CFM International, the SSAMC provides maintenance, repair & overhaul services for LEAP engines. To introduce the project, it received airworthiness certificates from the American Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) and Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC).

The repair facility was put into operation in March. By far, the company has become the first joint venture in the country committed to the maintenance, repair and overhaul of CFM56 engines.
