CHENGDU, May 15 (Xinhua) -- A number of local residents in the Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture of Garze in Sichuan Province can now send and receive express parcels within their villages thanks to the improved logistics network.

Local authorities are building logistics sites in the counties of Luding, Danba and Garze. So far three county-level logistics service centers have been established and 264 village logistics sites launched, according to the prefecture commerce and economic cooperation bureau.

Previously, local villagers had to travel to the county seats for express services.

Currently the the village logistics services handle over 350 parcels everyday on average. Many local agricultural products such as mushrooms, oranges and cherries have been delivered through the service.

The bureau plans to expand the logistics services to more villages across the prefecture.
