From September 15, passengers can travel between Chengdu and Delhi by air without transfer from any other city.

Chengdu announces June 12 that the Chengdu-Delhi direct flight will be open in September.

IndiGo, India's largest passenger airline, will launch September 15 a non-stop Chengdu-Delhi flight, which will become the only one of its kind linking Chengdu and India. And Chengdu will be the first flight destination for the airline to expand into the Chinese mainland.

Currently, it mostly takes more than 11 hours to travel from Chengdu to Delhi since people have to transfer from another city. The opening of the flight will shorten the one-way travel time to about 4.5 to 5 hours.

"It is a milestone for IndiGo to open the regular direct flight between Chengdu and Delhi," said Mr. Willy Boulter, Chief Commercial Officer of the company. According to him, IndiGo's nearly half of global passenger traffic growth in the next 20 years will come from China and India.
