The conclusion of the 2019 WPFG is believed to herald a new chapter for Chengdu in its effort to become a world-famous city of sporting events.

At 16:00 on August 16, the closing ceremony of the Chengdu¡P2019 World Police and Fire Games (WPFG) was open at the Century City International Convention and Exhibition Center, with the attendance of about 3000 government officials, guests, athletes as well as their family members.

At the closing ceremony, Mr. Larry Collins, WPFG Federation President, delivered a speech, with the WPFG flag in his hands, and then passed it to an officer from the Fire Department of Rotterdam, the Netherlands. This flag handover ceremony signaled the 10-day 2019 WPFG was concluded with a perfect ending.

After the ten days of heated competitions, thanks to all the Chinese participants' tenaciousness and hard efforts, China topped all countries in the total number of golds and gross medals. And the Chengdu team made great contribution to the achievement as the host city.

As the largest-ever sports event with the most foreign participants in Chengdu, the event was held in Asia for the first time, attracting over 10,000 police officers and firefighters from 79 countries and regions across the globe.

The conclusion of the 2019 WPFG is believed to herald a new chapter for Chengdu in its effort to become a world-famous city of sporting events. In the next years to come, the city will host a number of international sports events, including the 31st Summer Universiade, the 56th World Team Table Tennis Championships and the 12th World Games.
