Authors¡G Go Chengdu

Dubbed Capital of Science Fiction in China, Chengdu is now pressing ahead with its sci-fi industry vigorously.

On August 16 (local time), Chengdu announced its bid for the 81st World Science Fiction Convention (Worldcon) in 2023 at this year's edition of the event which was staged in Dublin, Ireland.

Initiated in 1939, the World Science Fiction Convention is the longest running fantasy and science-fiction convention, as well as the most influential one in the world.

At the 2019 Worldcon, Chengdu delegation presented its long history, brilliant civilization, profound science-fiction culture, as well as its strengths in tourism, transportation and convention and exhibition to host the event.

The host city for the 81st Worldcon will be unveiled at the 79th Worldcon held in Washington, DC in 2021.
