Reception held for twin cities

The Yunnan provincial government held a reception in the capital city Kunming at the 2017 South & Southeast Asia Community Expo and Investment Fair (SSACEIF) on June 12 to welcome its international sister cities for further cooperation.

SSACEIF, taking place from June 12 to 18, is themed on "creating new opportunities and seeking new development", and aimed at deepening relationships between China and other South and Southeast Asian countries.

Close cooperative ties with the province have brought distinguished attendees – a total of 163 government and enterprise delegates as well as 330 exhibitors from 18 countries.

So far, Yunnan has developed 76 twin cities in 33 countries, and built friendly connections with four towns and provinces.

Zong Guoying, executive vice governor of Yunnan province, expressed his hope to continue to deepen the friendly exchanges with the sister cities and broaden areas for cooperation.

Among attendees were Somsavat Lengsavad, former deputy prime minister of Laos; Czech Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Miloslav Stašek; Suon Bava, governor of Banteay Meanchey province in Cambodia; Narongsak Osotthanakon, governor of Chiang Rai province in Thailand; He Duanqi, vice chairman of the Standing Committee of Yunnan Provincial People's Congress; Yu Dingcheng, vice chairmen of the CPPCC Yunnan Provincial Committee.
