According to a recent report released by China's largest online travel agency Ctrip, the top 10 provinces and municipalities in terms of tourist enthusiasm for domestic travel were Sichuan, Guangdong, Yunnan, Shanghai, Hunan, Guizhou, Jiangsu, Shaanxi, Chongqing and Hubei.

The top 10 popular tourist destinations were Sanya, Lijiang, Zhangjiajie, Guiyang, Kunming, Chongqing, Xining, Xi'an, Chengdu and Jiuzhaigou, according to the Ctrip report.

According to reports, family tours accounted for 34 percent of domestic travel, while those from the age group of 19-30 took up 27 percent of all domestic travelers, the highest percentage, followed by those from the age groups of 31-45 (23 percent) and 46-60 (22 percent).

The percentage of solo travel also increased.
