THE CASTAWAY

      Alfonso was a Mexican, who lived in our Halfway House for about 4 years, he was a Christian living in a predominantly Catholic home, because of this difference in faith which caused many of their conflicts and strife, they cast him out of their home.

       He was a young man in his early twenties, I took him home because he had no where to go and no money to buy food, I treated him like my own son, gave him a place to stay, fed him and clothed him, so that he could settle down and learn the things of God. He was in this predicament, because he had chosen to bear the cross of the Lord by continuing in his faith.

        Alfonso was very submissive.  Here in our place, he had tasted God’s love and grace, and had been trained on how to serve others. He always followed me and  helped me in the street evangelism. Later I exhort him, since he was still young, to plan for his future, to go find a job, save some money and raise a family.

        He took my word seriously, and kept it in his mind. Not long after that, the Lord led him to find a job as a post office driver. He saved the money that he made and donate to our Halfway House, give me offerings and go with me to downtown to minister to the homeless.

        He is a very good Christian brother in our church, later he got married and had a family. Although he has not yet become a full time minister or pastor, but he serves as the driver of the church’s van to transport the Sunday school children to the church and back home.

       Thank God, by His grace, over all, up to the year 2007, we were able to train about 15 homeless people as ministers and 8 people as pastors.
