The Parables of the Weeds, Seed, and Yeast (5)

Through these parables Jesus is explaining that the Kingdom would have a small beginning.
It began with Jesus alone.

And then after His resurrection and ascension* it grew to include his apostles and a few hundred followers.

And it grew and it grew.

In these parables Jesus is explaining that the Kingdom has begun inconspicuously*, yet it has begun.

His point was that just as a tiny seed will grow into the largest of garden plants, so God¡¦s Kingdom will produce many people who truly believe.
From this small start, the kingdom will grow into such greatness that when Christ returns, it will take over the entire earth.

Jesus stressed the future greatness of the Kingdom, which then seemed insignificant.

He also showed that the Kingdom had small beginnings but would grow and produce great results.

And in the end the greatness of the Kingdom in size will provide as amazing a contrast as that between the mustard seed and the tree.

The kingdom¡¦s mysterious growth is the work of God.

Trans: But Jesus also wanted us to realize that ¡K
„« God¡¦s Kingdom is made up of many individual parts that equally contribute to the whole.
There is nothing insignificant in God¡¦s Kingdom.

There is no piece that is of lesser value.

Everything within God¡¦s Kingdom has meaning and purpose.

Without the yeast bread would not rise, you would just have this flat piece of Matzo.
It works, but a hamburger doesn¡¦t taste the same between two pieces of Matzos.

Every one of us is important in God¡¦s Kingdom. Yeah, it will go on without one of us: but it wouldn¡¦t be the same.

The Point:
The Kingdom of God is present and growing in a world full of sin and unbelief.

Jesus was declaring to the world that God¡¦s Kingdom is being established.
This Kingdom is being established in the midst of the existing* world.

As you look around the world how many times have you wanted to say, or have you said: ¡§This is not fair!¡¨

Well, life is not fair.

The world plays by a different set of rules than God does in His kingdom

The question is ¡§Do you want to live in the world or the Kingdom?¡¨

Do you want what is fair or what is right?

Since I have chosen to live in God¡¦s Kingdom I must allow Him to run it His way and allow Him use me anyway He sees best.

I must take those ¡§small¡¨ steps of faith that will increase as my relationship with God grows.

I must become the yeast that causes other people to grow rather than allowing the world to affect my growth.

Don¡¦t be discouraged by all the garbage going on. God is still in control. The truth is He never lost control.

It is His Kingdom.
