To Be Compelled by Amazing Grace and Love

Selected Scriptures: Luke 10:25-37

Introduction: God sees us as His children; we have experienced the Amazing Grace and Love from Jesus who came to the earth from the glory of Heaven to pay our sin’s debt to die on the cross. He loves us so much; God is within us and the Holy Spirit is within us, this is an amazing grace.

Jesus wanted us to keep going and going in his way; He send you out and giving you all authority in heaven to teach people to obey everything the Father had commanded you. And He will be within you. Let’s read the Bible in Matthew 28:18-20, Jesus said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in [Or into; see Acts 8:16; 19:5; Rom. 6:3; 1 Cor. 1:13; 10:2 and Gal. 3:27.] the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

We all want to live a prosperity life, driving a good conditional car; having a good job; living a nice house and a save place. If you obey the command of God, the Holy Spirit will be within you, leading you to the very end of age, this is His promised, when the Father within you, you will have the prosperity of life.

Howard Hendricks, Professor of Dallas Theological who had proved that, “I never met anyone who planned on living a mediocre life, but I met plenty of mediocre people.” (A mediocre life means a low quality life)

Commentary: Who is your neighbor? Read Luke 10:25-37, Jesus explained to an expert in the law, He said, “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with your entire mind’; [Deut. 6:5] and, `Love your neighbor as yourself.”“ [Lev. 19:18]. …“Do this and you will live?” V.29, he asked Jesus, “And who is my neighbor?” v. 30 …Jesus said: “A man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho, when he fell into the hands of robbers. They stripped him of his clothes, beat him and went away, leaving him half-dead. V.31 A priest happened to be going down the same road, and when he saw the man, he passed by on the other side. 32 So too, a Levite, when he came to the place and saw him, passed by on the other side. V.33 But a Samaritan, as he traveled, came where the man was; and when he saw him, he took pity on him. V.34 He went to him and bandaged his wounds, pouring on oil and wine. Then he put the man on his own donkey, brought him to an inn and took care of him. V. 35 the next day he took out two silver coins and gave them to the innkeeper. `Look after him,’ he said, `and when I return, I will reimburse you for any extra expense you may have.’ V.36 “Which of these three do you think was a neighbor to the man who fell into the hands of robbers?” Lk. 10:37, The expert in the law replied, “The one who had mercy on him.” Jesus told him, “Go and do likewise.”

V.32, A Levite(利未人) came and saw him, passed by on the other side. He thought, if I stay here too long. I’ll become a witness and if I stop what will happen to my time table?

V, 33 A Samaritan thought, ‘If I don’t stop and help this man, what happen to him? Or what will happen if this man goes without knowing Jesus?

That Levite and Priest have the Intentional Blindness, Intentional blindness is notion that, often times, though we may be looking at something, we do not see it. For example, we see a FedEx Express Truck, we don’t see the letter E. because it was printed the letter “d” and “E” together. How many time that we have passed the neighbor but we don’t see them.

V.34, That Samaritan got his hands dirty, but he liked to do so. Satan uses two things to break us, they are Prosperity and Poverty. Wess Stafford, president of Compassion International, he mention, [“Prosperity says, ‘My value is in my stuff.’ And poverty says ‘you have no value].

V.35, ‘reimburse you for any extra expenses.’ What are you going to do with this opportunity? Jesus taught him, ‘go and do likewise.” Do you think that we offer enough for filling the needs of the society?

POINT:

¡ The thieves saw a victim.

¡ The priest and Levite saw a nuisance.

¡ The Samaritan goes and does likewise, just like Jesus said.

If we close the church, would anybody miss us? Would anybody notice? No. But we should think about “It is by grace you have been saved, through faith — and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God — not by works, …For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do. (Ep. 2:8-10). Why don’t we like to go and do likewise?
