of abuses of power. Communities
do it. Governments do it. Sometimes people claiming to be the church do it. The
good news is the same power that raised Jesus from the dead can raise us, too!
It means we have access to a power than can enable us to live in victory,
because in Christ, even death itself has been defeated.

Lord Jesus and your love for all the saints, 16, I have not stopped giving
thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers. 17, I keep asking that the God
of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of
wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better. 18. I pray also that
the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope
to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in the
saints,

Ephesians 1:19-21, and his incomparably great power for us who believe. That power
is like the working of his mighty strength, which he exerted in Christ when he raised him
from the dead and seated him at his right hand in
the heavenly realms, far above all rule and authority, power and dominion, and
every title that can be given, not only in the present age but also in the one
to come.

filling the church with gifts and blessings. The church should be the full
expression of Christ, who himself fills everything (3:19). Christ is the
head and we are the body of his church (Romans 12:4, 5:1,
Corinthians 12:12-27; and Colossians 3:15 as well as throughout the book of
Ephesians). The image of the body shows the church¡¦s as
they go about doing Christ¡¦s work on earth.

On this Palm Sunday, we begin the
celebration of Holy Week. What a fitting time to remind ourselves as the body
of Christ, of the enormous cost and tremendous victory won on the cross of
Jesus. May we celebrate the truth that Jesus is with
His church always? The living presence of Christ in the church means that we
are never alone. The fact that the church is His body helps us remember that
He builds His church. We do not. We are but coworkers with Him. Thus, we
can be gloriously confident.
