1.After Jesus said this, he looked toward heaven
and prayed: "Father, the time has come. Glorify your Son, that your Son
may glorify you. 2 For you granted him authority over all people that he might give
eternal life to all those you have given him. 3 Now this is eternal life: that they may know you,
the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent. 4 I have brought you glory on earth by completing
the work you gave me to do. 5 And now, Father, glorify me in your presence with the glory I had with
you before the world began.

解經: 約翰 17:1-5, (參聖經靈修版第296頁) 整個17章都是耶穌的禱告，耶穌為當日的 門徒禱告，也為今天跟隨祂的人禱告。祂祈求神讓蒙揀選的信徒脫離魔鬼的權勢，把他們分別出來，過聖潔的生活，藉著真理叫他們合而為一。
17:3, 我們怎樣才能得到永生？耶穌在這裏清楚的告訴我們—藉著神的兒子耶穌基督認識父神。要進入永生，就要在耶穌基督裏與神建立個人關係。我們若認自己的罪，脫離罪惡，基督的愛就藉著聖靈住在我們的心裏。
17:5, 耶穌來到世上之前，與神是合一的。 到這時刻，耶穌在世上的使命差不多完成了，祂要求父神回復祂本來的榮耀和權能 的位置，耶穌的復活與升天說明祂回到自 己在神右邊崇高的位置。(有關司提反的見證，請參讀使徒7:56。)

Commentary: John 17:1-5, 17:1ff This entire chapter is Jesus’ prayer.
From it, we learn that the world is a tremendous battleground where the
forces under Satan’s power and those under God’s authority are at war. Satan and his forces are
motivated by bitter hatred for Christ and his forces. Jesus prayed for his
disciples including those of us who follow him today. He prayed that God
would keep his chosen believers safe from Satan’s power, setting
them apart and making them pure and holy, uniting them through his truth. 17:3, How do we
get eternal life? Jesus tells us clearly here-by knowing God the Father himself
through his Son, Jesus Christ. Eternal life requires entering into a personal
relationship with God in Jesus Christ. When we admit our sin and turn away
from it. Christ’s love lives in us by the Holy Spirit.
17:5, Before Jesus came to earth, he was one with God.
At this point, when his mission on earth was almost finished, Jesus was
asking his Father to restore him to his original place of honor and authority
Jesus’ resurrection and ascension-and Stephen’s ding
exclamation (Acts 7:56)-attest that Jesus did return to his exalted
position at the right hand of God.

解經: 約翰17:6-13,
耶穌為祂的跟隨者們禱告，在約翰書的下一章相當清楚地說明那些跟隨者們並不完全，所以耶穌呈上给上帝。祂的話滿是相信自己是神的使者派遣。因祂知道這是最末語，所以祂禱告求神保護祂的跟隨者。祂禱告的與我們不同的是求神使我們信心充滿，合一與喜樂。也加強上帝子民的喜樂並對上帝所給我們的使命要信實。

我已將你的道賜給他們．世界又恨他們、因為他們不屬世界、正如我不屬世界一樣。15我不求你叫他們離開世界、只求你保守他們脫離那惡者。〔或作脫離罪惡〕16他們不屬世界、正如我不屬世界一樣。17 求你用真理使他們成聖．你的道就是真理。 18 你怎樣差我到世上、我也照樣差他們到世上。 19 我為他們的緣故、 自己分別為聖、叫他們也因真理成聖。20 我不但為這些人祈求、也為 那些因他們的話信我的人祈求． 21 使他們都合而為一．正如你父在我裡面、我在你裡面．使他們也在我們裡面、叫世人可以信你差了我來。
解經: 約翰 17:14-21, 於是，耶穌緊握專心在祂離開後祂的跟隨者之信實。祂確認那些跟隨者們要活出信實對世界要拒絕愛。祂的禱告不僅是使跟隨者們安全，並能負起神差遣耶穌在世上之生活目的。
這種獻身於神，需要除去從自我的願望和誘導而變成。為了這個原因，耶穌禱告上帝能使祂的跟隨者們作神聖義務。這不是我們自己能做到的事情。這些事需要親切和藹的行動將上帝的真實與信實進入內心。結果將與耶穌合一與其跟隨者們神聖的工作。當上帝送耶穌來世界，已作了同樣神聖之工作。
當耶穌禱告時的專注不但為那些因門徒的見證的話而信祂的人祈求，也為我們這些後來信主的人禱告 (第20句)。所以包跨我們都成了神的子民。
耶穌的禱告呼召我們徶開自己的議程並與神和他人合一以恢復神創造的目的地。雖是耶穌的第一批門徒未知約翰17章是祂最後一次的禱告，但我們知道。這置我們有更大的責任同人與主合一。

結論
1)
讚美的禱告是榮耀上帝: 約翰 17:1-5 耶穌在被捕，拷問，與釘死。是這背景神的榮耀將顯現。在這第一部的禱告耶穌定義永生。
2)
保持合一和喜樂的禱告: 約翰 17:6-13在這第二部的禱告，耶穌給了我們一個奇特的方式以瞭解保護。耶穌的注意力變祂的跟隨者。祂告訴父神有關祂的跟隨著相信祂與順從祂。跟隨者們已看到了耶穌與天父的直接關聯。耶穌的全生命给這關係作見證。
3)
為完成上帝旨意的禱告: 約翰 17:14-21在這第三部的禱告，現在耶穌專注於神對世界的使命與任務。

2 A Prayer of Protection
for Unity and Joy: John 17:6-13, 6 "I
have revealed you to those whom you gave me out of the world. They were
yours; you gave them to me and they have obeyed your word. 7 Now
they know that everything you have given me comes from you. 8 For
I gave them the words you gave me and they accepted them. They knew with
certainty that I came from you, and they believed that you sent me. 9 I
pray for them. I am not praying for the world, but for those you have given
me, for they are yours. 10 All I have
is yours, and all you have is mine. And glory has come to me through them. 11 I
will remain in the world no longer, but they are still in the world, and I am
coming to you. Holy Father, protect them by the power of your name--the name
you gave me--so that they may be one as we are one. 12 While
I was with them, I protected them and kept them safe by that name you gave
me. None has been lost except the one doomed to destruction so that Scripture
would be fulfilled. 13 "I am
coming to you now, but I say these things while I am still in the world, so that
they may have the full measure of my joy within them.
Commentary: John
17:6-13, Jesus’
prayer is on His followers. Though it will be quite clear in the next chapter
of John that those followers were not perfect, Jesus presents them to God as
having received His words and believed that He (Jesus) had been sent by God. Because
He knew these were final words, Jesus prayed for protection for His
followers. However, His prayer takes a different note from most of our
prayers for protection. His prayer was that God protect His followers from
abandoning the faith. He prayed for the unity and joy of His followers, Likewise,
a shared joy strengthens God’s people for faithfulness to God’s mission.

A Prayer of Preparation for Fulfilling God’s Mission: John
17:14-21, 14
I
have given them your word and the world has hated them, for they are not of
the world any more than I am of the world. 15 My prayer is not that you take them out of the
world but that you protect them from the evil one. 16 They
are not of the world, even as I am not of it. 17 Sanctify
them by the truth; your word is truth. 18 As you sent me into the world, I have sent them
into the world.
19 For
them I sanctify myself, that they too may be truly sanctified. 20 "My
prayer is not for them alone. I pray also for those who will believe in me
through their message,
21 that
all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. May
they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me.
Commentary: John
17:14-21, Jesus
then tightened the focus on the faithfulness of His followers after He was
gone. He recognized that they would have to live out that faithful commitment
in a world that rejects such devotion. His prayer was not just that His
followers survive in the world, but that they take up the mission of God for
which Jesus had been sent as their purpose for living.
This kind of commitment to the mission of God
requires transformation from our natural desires and motivations. For this
reason, Jesus prayed that God would sanctify His followers. This is not some-thing
we can do for ourselves. It requires the gracious action of God infusing
truth and faithfulness into our very hearts. The result will be a union of
Christ and His followers in holiness and mission. God had done a similar work
of sanctifying when He sent Jesus into the world.
The missional focus of the prayer becomes clear
in verse 20 when Jesus prays for all those who will believe in the future. This
vast host of people, including us, become part of the people of God.
His prayer calls us to lay aside our personal agendas
and desires to unite with each other and with God in restoring all creation
to God’s creation purposes. Though the first disciples did not know John 17
was Jesus’ final prayer for them, we do. This places greater responsibility
on us to live in union with each other and with Christ.

Conclusions:
1) A Prayer of Praise that Glorifies God: Jn.
17:1-5, The hour Jesus speaks
about is His impending arrest, torture, and crucifixion. It’s into this
setting where God’s glory will be revealed.
In this first part of His prayer Jesus defined eternal life. 2) A
Prayer of Protection for Unity and Joy: John 17:6-13, In this part
of the prayer, Jesus gives us a unique way of understanding protection. Jesus’
attention moves to those who followed Him. Jesus tells the Father that His
followers have believed in Him and they have been obedient. The followers
have seen that there is a direct connection between Jesus and the Father.
Jesus’ whole life gave witness to this direct connection.
3)
A Prayer of Preparation for Fulfilling God’s Mission: John
17:14-21, Jesus’
prayer now focuses on the mission of God in the world.
