There are
eternal consequences for ignoring people in need. We need to recognize the
importance and urgency of opening our eyes to the needs of those around us.
上週Last Week：我們已發現忠實於上帝國和信任於上帝的共應我們所需之重要性。
We explored the importance of devoting ourselves to
kingdom values and trusting in God to provide for our needs.
這週This Week：今天的課程，我們將看到一位富財主和拉撒路之比喻，教導我們關於能尋求上帝國之重要性。
Today’s
lesson, we will see what the parable of the rich man and Lazarus teaches
about the importance of seeking the kingdom of God while we are able.
1. 比金錢重要More than Just Money經文 Scriptures reading: 路加Luke 16: 19-26,
有一個財主、穿著紫色袍和細麻布衣服、天天奢華宴樂。又有一個討飯的、名叫拉撒路、渾身生瘡、被人放在財主門口、要得財主桌子上掉下來的零碎充飢．並且狗來餂他的瘡。後來那討飯的死了、被天使帶去放亞伯拉罕的懷裡．財主也死了、並且埋葬了。他在陰間受痛苦、舉目遠遠的望見亞伯拉罕、又望見拉撒路在他懷裡．就喊著說、我祖亞伯拉罕哪、可憐我罷、打發拉撒路來、用指頭尖蘸點水、涼涼我的舌頭．因為我在這火燄裡、極其痛苦。亞伯拉罕說、兒阿、你該回想你生前享過福、拉撒路也受過苦．如今他在這裡得安慰、你倒受痛苦。不但這樣、並且在你我之間、有深淵限定、以致人要從這邊過到你們那邊、是不能的、要從那邊過到我們這邊、也是不能的。
"There
was a rich man who was dressed in purple and fine linen and lived in luxury
every day. At his gate was laid a beggar named Lazarus,
covered with sores and longing to eat what fell from the rich man's table. Even
the dogs came and licked his sores. "The time came when the beggar died
and the angels carried him to Abraham's side. The rich man also died and was
buried. In hell, where he was in torment, he looked up and saw Abraham far
away, with Lazarus by his side.
So he called to him, 'Father Abraham, have pity on me
and send Lazarus to dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue,
because I am in agony in this fire.' "But Abraham replied, 'Son, remember
that in your lifetime you received your good things, while Lazarus received bad
things, but now he is comforted here and you are in agony. And besides
all this, between us and you a great chasm has been fixed, so that those who
want to go from here to you cannot, nor can anyone cross over from there to
us.'
解經Commentary from N.I.V.p.2181 & 靈修版217頁: 路加Luke 16:19-26, 法利賽人認為財富是公益之證明, 耶穌這個故事使他們驚訝。一個患病的討飯的拉撒路、得到獎賞、一個財主受罰。財主下地獄不是因他之財富乃是因自私、沒有給拉撒路食物。盡管得到許多祝福, 但心裡是硬的。我們如何應用錢財? 是遠較我們有多少錢重要。
The
Pharisees considered wealth to be a proof of a person’s righteousness. Jesus
startled them with this story where a diseased beggar, Lazarus rewarded, and a
rich man is punished. The rich man did not go to hell because of his wealth but
because he was selfish, refusing to feed Lazarus for take him in, or care for
him. The rich man was hardhearted in spite of his great blessings.
The amount of money we have is not as
important as the way we use it. What is your attitude toward your money and
possessions? Do you heard them selfishly, or do you use them to help others?
2. News from a Dead Man? 經文 Scriptures reading: 路加Luke 16:27-31, Song ““愛是永不止息LOVE NEVER FAIL”:
只是我告訴你們這聽道的人、你們的仇敵要愛他、恨你們的要待他好 (請看最後pg4我寫之歌 “愛是永不止息”記載自新約林前13:8; 馬太5:44; 和約一4:18)。咒詛你們的要為他祝福、凌辱你們的要為他禱告。有人打你這邊的臉、連那邊的臉也由他打．有人奪你的外衣、連裡衣也由他拿去。凡求你的、就給他．有人奪你的東西去、不用再要回來。你們願意人怎樣待你們、你們也要怎樣待人。
"But I
tell you who hear me: Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you (See my
composed music, “Love Never Fails” on page 4 of this sermon, words
excerpted from 1Co. 13:8; Mt.5:44; 1st Jn. 4:18), bless those who
curse you, pray for those who mistreat you. If someone strikes you on one
cheek, turn to him the other also. If someone takes your cloak, do not stop him
from taking your tunic. Give to everyone who asks you, and if anyone takes what
belongs to you, do not demand it back.
Do to others as you would have them do
to you.
解經Commentary, from N.I.V.p.2181 & 靈修版218頁: 路加Luke 16: 29-31, 這個財主以為他的五個兄弟必定相信一位從死裡復活的使者, 但耶穌說, 若他們不信摩西和先知的話 (他們常說要關心窮苦的人)、就是一個從死裡復活的人也不能叫他們相信。注意, 耶穌的話裡預示了自己從死裡復活之後、大多數的宗教領袖仍然不會接受耶穌、他們的思想頑固不靈、就是聖靈或神的兒子也不能改變他們。The rich man thought that his five brothers would
surely believe a messenger who had been raised from the dead. But Jesus said
that if they did not believe Moses and the prophets who spoke constantly of the
duty to care for the poor, not even a resurrection would convince them. Notice
the irony in Jesus’ statement; on his way to Jerusalem to die, he was fully
aware that even when he had risen from the dead, most of the religious leaders
would not accept him. They were set in their ways and neither Scripture nor
God’s Son himself would shake them loose.
3. 結論Conclusion:
1) 比金錢重要More than Just Money, 誤識別人所需、將受永久懲罰。
There
are eternal consequences for ignoring people in need.
2) 來自死後之財主News
from a Dead Man? 財主的罪是沒有關心周圍的人。 The rich man’s sin
was ignoring the plight of those in need around him
要點POINT: 我們對窮人、寡婦、孤兒、陌生人、都必須負點責任, 但他們在何處呢? 他們是誰呢? 約翰 衛斯理相信、我們需要常常面對面看到窮人。也可能我們從未實在看到窮人, 但我們有政府的服務機構可讓我們接洽的機會去幫助。Our
responsibility for the poor, the widow, the orphan, the stranger, and so on.
Where are they? Who are they? John Wesley believed
that we need to frequently see the poor in person, face to face. It may be possible
that we never actually encounter the poor in a personal way, rather we have
government services and agencies that deal directly with them.
