We will discover the apostle Paul was a great
missionary and theologian in the early church. Yet, it is easy to overlook the
fact that Paul had the same daily financial concerns as we do. How did Paul pay
for his food, lodgings, and travel? How
did he afford his books and others?

We will
explore the importance of the partnerships we share with other believers.

in the gospel from the first day until now, being
confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to
completion until the day of Christ Jesus.

Philippians were remembered with joy and thanksgiving whenever Paul prayed. By
helping Paul, they were helping Christ¡¦s cause. The Philippians were willing to
be used by God for whatever he wanted them to do. When others think about you,
what comes to their minds? Are you remembered with hoy by them? Do your acts of
kindness lift up others?

Paul said that the Philippians were partners in the gospel, he was pointing out
their valuable contribution in spreading God¡¦s message. They contributed
through their practical help when Paul was in Philippi; and through their financial
support when Paul was in prison. As we help our ministers, missionaries, and
evangelists through prayer, hospitality, and financial donations, we become
partners with them.

Paul had a longing to see the Christians at Philippi,
His love and affection for them was based not merely on past experiences, but
also on the unity that comes when believers draw upon Christ¡¦s love. All
Christians are part of God¡¦s family and thus share equally in the transforming
power of his love. Let Christ¡¦s love motivate you to love other Christians and
to express that love in your actions toward them.

it was good of you to share in my troubles. Moreover, as you Philippians know,
in the early days of your acquaintance with the gospel, when I set out from
Macedonia, not one church shared with me in the matter of giving and receiving,
except you only; for even when I was in Thessalonica, you sent me aid again and
again when I was in need. Not that I am looking for a gift, but I am looking
for what may be credited to your account. I have received full payment and even
more; I am amply supplied, now that I have received from Epaphroditus the gifts
you sent. They are a fragrant offering, an acceptable sacrifice, pleasing to
God. And my God will meet all your needs according to his glorious riches in
Christ Jesus.

Before the final closing of Paul¡¦s letter, again
reveals what a gospel partnership looks like? First, partners in the gospel share their
troubles with one another. They share emotionally and physically. They are a
listening ear as well as a helping hand in the work of ministry. Second,
partners in the gospel give financially to the work of ministry. They give
support when and where it is needed. Finally, there is the idea of an ongoing
relationship with all those that are working in spreading the gospel of Jesus
Christ. The relationship continues even as seasons change and people move!

4. CONCLUSION:
1) Source of Joy:
First,
God is the source of our joy; He will take the project to completion no
matter what happens, people do not have to worry because
God is doing the work.
Second, pray always with the same goals that brings a deep satisfaction in relationships.
Finally, the
thought of Wesleyan-holiness theology is the thought that God is continuing to
make us into a holy people. We become more Christlikeness as we allow
God to continue to work on us as we surrender our lives to Him.
2) Partners
in the Gospel: There is the idea of an ongoing relationship with all
those that are working in spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ. We as a
teamwork can effectively work in spreading the Gospel. Partners in the gospel share the emotionally ¡Bphysically ¡Bfinancial and other troubles
with one another; also we have a listening ear as well as a helping hand in the
work of ministry.
3) Partnership:
First, being ¡§partnerships¡¨ binds people not only together to
one another, but also to Christ. Christ had been our matchmaker, pulling us
together. Christ had been our goal.
Second, believers, the body of Christ, we are also ¡§partners
in grace.¡¨ Whether in suffering for the sake of Christ or defending and
confirming the gospel, we have a common bond held together by our relationship
with Jesus Christ. As Paul wrote in the (Philippians 1:8), it is possible to
love others the same as Jesus loves others. This also is a joyful possibility
in Christ!
