2. Deep in God¡¦s Heart: Isaiah
43:3b-7, 3b§Ú¤w¸g¨Ï®J¤Î§@§AªºÅ«»ù¡B¨Ï¥j¹ê©M¦è¤Ú¥N´À§A¡C4 Since
you are precious and honored in my sight, and because I love you, I will
give men in exchange for you, and people in exchange for your life. 5 Do
not be afraid, for I am with you; I will bring your
children from the east and gather you from the west. 6 I
will say to the north, 'Give them up!' and to the south, 'Do not hold them
back.' Bring my sons from afar and my daughters from the ends of the earth-7 everyone
who is called by my name, whom I created for my glory, whom I formed and
made."
Commentary: The word
God tells us who we are to Him, ¡§You are precious and honored in my sight¡KI
love you.¡¨
God reminds His people that His interest in
them is not new. They are His creation. He created and formed them. The
mighty army of Pharaoh was left a broken ruin on the shores of the Red Sea
while God¡¦s people continued their march to the land promised to them.
God is acting in our lives because we are
deep in His heart, precious in His sight. Who we are has been redefined.
We are no longer defined by what we can do or what we have done. God¡¦s love
defines us. We are His cherished children. We are His creation. We have His
promise. God says, ¡§Do not be afraid for I am with you.¡¨ Powers,
people, or circumstances that work against us become subjects of His power
and righteousness on our behalf. North, South, East, or West, His love and
power are exerted on our behalf. He has identified himself¡Xnamed himself¡Xas
our redeemer. This is who He is¡Xwith and for us. ¡§This is what the Lord
says.¡¨ He¡¦s our loving father, that¡¦s who He is. And we are loved by Him,
that¡¦s who we are.

the wasteland.
Commentary: ¡§I
am doing a new thing!¡¨ This is the good news! God is our redeemer. He is
creating new possibilities for us. Don¡¦t look to the past! Look to the
future where God¡¦s creative grace is doing something new, an unexpected
serendipity of grace.
The past no longer controls our future. God has
surpassed it, overcome it. Our story has a new beginning that God is
creating. Where there was once dry, dusty, and lifeless place is
transformed bright, cool streams of living water. A garden is springing up!
Can you see it? ¡§This is what the Lord says.¡¨ Are you listening?
4. Conclusion:
1) ¡§But Now¡¨: Isaiah
43:1-3a The
prophet addresses the people of God when they find themselves their
homeland is destroyed and their enemies have conquered them. They have no
one to blame but themselves, as generations of unfaithfulness have resulted
in painful consequences. And yet, the prophet declares, ¡§But now¡K¡¨ God as
Creator shape our vision of the future¡I
While God does not
promise deliverance from trials or consequences as a result of our
disobedience, He does promise His unfailing presence. ¡§I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will
not sweep over you. When you walk through
the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze. For I
am the LORD, your God¡K¡C
2) Deep in God¡¦s Heart: Isaiah 43:3b-7 The
recipients of this message lived many generations after the exodus from
Egypt and God¡¦s deliverance at the Red Sea.
Does your family or
church have testimonies of God¡¦s faithfulness in the past that have shaped
your story?
The people fall into
sin a mere generation after a mighty saving act of God. Why? Because those
who experience God¡¦s saving action failed to instill the story into the
hearts and minds of their children. In fact, there are the various times
and places we can tell our stories to the next generation, such as Sunday School, mentoring, testimonies,
and so on.
7. 3. 3) God Our Redeemer: Isaiah 43:18-19
God commands
the people not to
remember
the former things, but
instead
pay attention, because God
is about
to act in an entirely new way.
God asked,
¡§I am about to do a new thing¡Kdo you not perceive it?¡¨
Think
about how does it look like to assume having an idea coming from God? How
do we plant the seeds of God¡¦s idea and spiritual idea around our work-
place?
